PORT CLINTON, OHIO

One day we decided to drive up to Port Clinton, Ohio, which was a little over an hour away. We wanted to see Lake Erie one more time (the western end this time). We also wanted to see a couple of lighthouses.

The first lighthouse we visited was Port Clinton Light Station. This forty foot lighthouse was built in 1833 at the mouth of the Portage River. We were surprised it was such a short lighthouse!

We drove around Port Clinton for a little while before we found a local place to grab some lunch. Since we had the dogs with us, we got lunch to go and ate in the car. Then we were off to the next lighthouse: Marblehead Lighthouse State Park.

This is the keeper’s house.
Inside the keeper’s house was a gift shop and several rooms with artifacts and memorabilia.
This is the U. S. Life Saving Station. Inside was some very interesting information and old photos about life saving on Lake Erie.

After a stop at a local ice cream shop, we headed back to the RV. We took a different way home, but the countryside was just as beautiful as the ride up to Lake Erie. Another successful and beautiful day in the books!

So, for now ….. “On the Road Again!”
