ANOTHER DAY SEEING THE BEAUTY OF MAINE

Today we had a very definite list of places to stop and see: Higgins Beach, Two Light State Park, Fort Williams Park, Portland Head Light, Freeport, Harraseeket Lunch & Lobster Co., and L.L. Bean. That’s quite a lengthy list, but we made it to each place!

First stop: Higgins Beach. This is a little vacation town with a lovely beach.

Next stop: Two Light State Park. This park got its name from two lighthouses built in 1828. However, somehow we missed these lighthouses! I guess we were just too enamored with the gun battery built here to protect Portland Harbor during WW II. Here are some photos of the gun battery and the scenic views.

Zoom in to read some information.
I guess they used to give tours inside. I took this pic through the big, cross barred door way.
Took this pic through another gated door way.

Third stop: Fort Williams Park and Portland Head Light.

Finally, we are headed through Portland to Freeport for lunch and some shopping.

Portland bridge.
We ate lunch in South Freeport at this place. OMGosh! Best lobster roll ever! And the harbor views were nice.

We drove in to Freeport where you will find the L.L. Bean company. They have a huge retail store PLUS an outlet store in the outlet mall that is there right in the middle of the town. We shopped a little and then headed for home (a.k.a. the RV). It was a great day!

So, for now ….. “On the Road Again!”
